Carpet Repair: Restretching, Cut And PlugCarpet Stretching & Tackstrip Install or Replacement

Lumpy carpet is caused by improper installation in most cases. When this occurs, it is recommended to have a professional carpet stretching technician repair the problem. The longer the carpet is left this way, more problems can arise. Sometimes if left this way, carpets will permanent be damaged or never lay flat completely. As well, carpets can delaminate and also can become a tripping hazard. Some types of carpets can stretch continuously while others never do. If you’ve got one that likes to stretch, you should have it repaired. If you leave it as is, it will continue to get even lumpier, this will make the carpeting wear out faster. Ripples in carpet require a carpet repair which is known as a carpet re stretch or also known as carpet stretching.
Your carpet over time may begin to have lumps, waves or ripples. This typically happens to poorly installed new carpet. Older carpets can experience this as well, due to various reasons. Not only is this rippling unattractive but it can be a tripping hazard. If you have this condition, we recommend “power stretching”. “Power stretching” is the process of pulling your carpet up along the edges to meet the tack strip and using a specialized piece of equipment to re-stretch it back to the proper position. This procedure  can extend the life and look of your carpet. A carpet that is properly stretched allows for more effective carpet cleaning and a hazard free environment.

Cut and Plug

Flooring, is typically the second most expensive investment in a home, so it is important to make sure that the carpet in our homes lasts. That’s why one of the most disheartening things that can happen is to get a stain or a burn on your carpet. So just because an accident on your carpet has occurred, doesn’t mean you need to replace your carpet. You may be able to patch or fix the damaged section. A patch is what we call a cut and plug.

If you have a stain that is deep into the fibers and cannot be removed with one of Air Fresh Chem-Dry’s many stain removal products, or covers a larger area, you’re going to need to replace the damaged section. Hopefully you still have some remnants of carpet that you saved when it was originally installed, if not, you can still get a replacement section from the back of a closet.

We must inform you that all carpet has a grain or texture as a result of the way it’s manufactured. If the carpet fibers are brushed one way the fibers stand up, and brush them the other direction, the fibers seem to lay down. You want to make sure that any replacement piece you use is positioned so the grain is running the same way as the rest of the carpet. Also, we suggest that replacement pieces are less noticeable if they are cut in the shape of a triangle or a circle. Squares and rectangles somehow catch the eye. Our professionally trained technicians are able to determine what is best for your carpet, so you’re carpet can have the look and feel you’ve been waiting for.
